Position Title: Construction Inspector

Job Description:
The Construction Inspector is responsible for the daily quality and production of the roadway projects built by Contractors. Employee is also responsible for recording the events of the projects, daily work inspection for compliance with plans and specifications, documenting equipment and personnel on the project each day, hours worked, weather delay days, scheduling geotechnical testing, and accounting for the quantity of material built into the projects. May review and approve invoices from the projects Contractor. The Construction Inspector will also inspect culvert installations permitted through the Planning Department.
Responsibilities:
- Purchases and condemns for new Right of Way.
- Interacts with constituents regarding roadway projects and/or complaints.
- Addresses road and drainage concerns/complaints with constituents.
- Develops and prepares daily activity reports; distributes to appropriate personnel as necessary.
- Monitors expenditure of funds and reviews and processes pay requests for Contractors.
- Interfaces with County and 3rd party Engineers concerning construction activities.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Inspects driveway culverts to meet county standards.
- Regular and punctual attendance is required.
- Oversees contractors, interacts with Contractors head staff and reports status to project Engineers and Department Foreman to ensure goals and schedules are being met.
- Daily Inspection of Roadway Construction Projects. Assures compliance with all local, state and federal rules and regulations.
- Works with constituents obtaining temporary construction easements and helps them understand the extent of the project.
- Monitors Franchise Utility Construction in the Right of Way of County roads to ensure compliance.
Requirements:
- Possession of a valid driver’s license. Must be able to obtain a State of Texas driver’s license within 90 days of employment.
- High School Diploma or GED and a minimum four years of experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
