Job Description:

We’re currently looking for a talented Senior Copywriter (Maternity Cover) to join the creative team here at Matalan.

As the Senior Copywriter you will maintain and develop the Matalan tone of voice across multi-channel functions from guidelines and planning to execution of accurate, innovative and best in class copy.

You will lead the copy team to ensure daily and weekly deadlines are met in order to maintain department efficiency and support internal teams. You will deliver authoritative, creative and engaging copy whilst working closely with the content team to align plans and production of content.

Responsibilities:

• Be an ambassador and brand guardian for the brand TOV maintaining consistency, relevancy and aligned to brand guidelines encouraging others to adopt the Matalan tone of voice in their own writing and offer advice and support when needed
• Owning writing projects, working with the creative teams to concept these and add to creative briefs.
• Marketing channels will include Advertising, Direct Mail, Social Media, POS, Emails, Online and PR.
• Creation and delivery of creative and engaging copy ensuring a consistent brand personality is communicated from initial briefing to the final production for all marketing channels, including research, planning and concept creation for all online and offline activity.
• Support the ecommerce, social and SEO teams when needed.
• Produce, sub edit and proof read copy for a variety of different communications channels ensuring all copy is legally compliant.

Requirements:

• Excellent attention to detail
• Research and analytical skills to gain an accurate understanding of the subject in question
• The organisational ability to manage multiple projects, often to tight deadlines
• The ability to write in different styles and to other people’s direction
• Excellent communication and listening skills
• An understanding of digital marketing and search engine optimisation (SEO)
• Proven creative copywriting experience within an agency or in-house environment
• Excellent writing and sub-editing skills & ideally be educated to Degree level
• With a keen interest in the retail sector, you will ideally have some editorial/copy experience of fashion, lifestyle and beauty writing, preferably within an online retail environment
